Raji Radhakrishnan from Thriumala

Robert Michael Hensel, a ‘Guinness World Record’ holder for the longest non-stop wheelie, wrote one day, ‘I choose not to place “DIS,” in my ability.’ Something similar happened with 30 year old, Raji Radhakrishnan from Thriumala, Kunnapuzha, who is intellectually disabled. Not allowing her disability to affect her in any way, she sewed 1000 + (15,000) masks for frontline warriors who are on the streets 24*7, protecting lives non-stop at her home.
Kerala, Health, Social Justice and Women and Child Development Minister, Shri Shailaja’stweet reads –

“Raji Radhakrishnan, D/o Prabha Unni  from Thirumala, Kunnappuzha, has overcome the challenges of being a person with disability & is joining the fight against Covid19 in the state.”

Motivation always comes from home. Raji’s mother, PrabhaUnni, runs a Non-Government Organization ( NGO ) named Mother Queen Foundation,
which provides food packets to differently-abled children and families in the area as well as helping hospitals too at times. Raji’s biggest motivation came from her mother, PrabhaUnni, who taught her how to sew.
The Kerala Health Minister said, “Having learned tailoring from her mother, she has made 1000+ (15,000 ) masks at home and given it to the Police and health professionals, free of cost.”

An unprecedented crisis came in the form of coronavirus, against which the whole nation is fighting hand-in-hand while grappling with a lockdown. Prabha is playing a role of a responsible citizen by trying to help the needy through delivering food packets directly to their houses. However, Prabha droped the food delivery idea for a while and started sewing homemade masks by following the guidelines prescribed by the government. Thiswas supported by Raji afterwards.

Shailaja tweeted, “We appreciate Raji’s effort & encourage people to come forward and help us make masks by following directions of Health Dept.”
Raji never felt comfortable going to her special school, but in those days during her schooling, she also learnt the basics of tailoring. Prabha schooled Raji at home after that, which helped the child to learn drawing, painting, making jewellery and stitch. The maternal love inside Prabha always encouraged Raji to work harder and this led Prabha to put up an exhibition of Raji’s craftwork too.

Raji always used to ask for something in return from her mother, for lending a helping hand and in return would ask for something in return. However, this time, Raji did not ask for a penny from her mother to make a mask and unknowingly did something which is helping a large number of people when it is the need of the hour.

Mother Queen Foundation Managing Trustee Mrs. Prabhavathi’s words …!

Many of my friends and well-wishers ask me about Mother Queen Foundation activities which is launched in 2014 for the welfare of children with disabilities, needy poor and other helpless elderly parents in poor families. ..! The reason for starting Mother Queen Foundation is my daughter, Raji Mol. As a person who has experienced a lot of tears and pain as a life of a mother who raised her disabled daughter, I’ve visited many homes in search of mothers who raising their disabled child and children for months. Children lying in the same bed, children with other physical and mental challenges, their living conditions made me cry. Those who do not have good houses, those who do not have good toilets, I have seen mothers and children in distress who are struggling with food, medicine, and other needs of children with disabilities. My motherly love whined and thought about how to help them. Because their pain is in front of my eyes and Icried for many days without sleep. In recognition of the fact that mothers of children with such disabilities are queens,
Mother Queen Foundation Charitable Trust, Registered onMay 2014, started working … !!

Thinking difficulties in taking care of a healthy child, imagine the situation of raising a child with disabilities …! Me as a mother looked at the community. I think of mothers who gave birth to disabled children like my own daughter.  They also have experienced the mental stress and pain that I experienced in my own life. Thus recognised that these children are #Gods_gift. And to prove that there is #the_divine_aspect in them, to comfort those children and mothers, to comfort them, to give them shade, by understanding, learning the treatment, food, clothing, medicine and other needs considering their pain as my own pain, I’ve started ‘Mother Queen Foundation’ which means ‘Every mother is a Queen’.
Through the Mother Queen Foundation movement, everything they needed for a home, every month – food, vegetables, medicine, pads, baby food (from salt to camphor)- I took it as my responsibility,  and took them to those homes, alone …!

The project #Punyaprasadam has been launched. Not only this, helping aging parents, helping families who do not have a fulfilment, support for girls who are struggling financially for marriage, helps for those who find it difficult to financially treat life-threatening diseases such as cancer, toilets were built for poor households who do not have toilets, Punyaprasadam – Food is provided to more than 150 patients and caregivers..Thus I am doing a hand of countless help for those who are suffering in my community.

The Mother Queen Foundation came in with many well-wishers. Those who are willing to help the suffering people in the community in different districts of Kerala are working as ‘Members’ of the Mother Queen Foundation. Mr. K. Pradeep Kumar (Secretary), Board Members Mrs. Prabha, Mrs.Radhamma Miss. Rajimol, Mr. Sreekumar, Mr. Ajesh Ambatiyil and Mr. Ajikumar, Miss.Jenika.B.Pradeep, Miss.Josna.B.Pradeep are working with me as a good team. The Mother Queen Foundation is based in Thiruvananthapuram.

During 2020 lockdown,
With the help of Poojappura police station without fearing Covid, in  Thiruvananthapuram district, according to information received through WhatsApp, Food kit and food items are delivered to the homes of the disabled and the homes of the poor in an autorickshaw. Not only that, with the police, food made by my own hands for about 250 people are given to the needy patients, the needy people living on the streets and the workers who came from another states.

Knowing the need to wear a mask, my daughter who is disabled and I, sewed more than 15,000 masks. With the help of the police and the Residence Association, it was delivered to various offices, homes and people. The Health Minister of Kerala, Mrs. Shailaja Teacher, who came to know about my daughter who sewed so many masks and delivered them to the needy, called my daughter Rajimol, directly at the Minister’s office and congratulated her …!

Many people from the state, the country, and different parts of the world congradulated my child. Most of the media and news channels in Kerala has reported this as a news. National Channel #Discovery_Channel done a Documentary on this and telecasted on the channel. What I thought impossible was made possible by my disabled daughter. Food kits, vegetable kits, medicines for the needy was provided to more than 50 families during this 2021 Covid pandemic in compliance with the Covid protocol despite heavy rains and winds.
And we will continue to do all we can to help people in these coming days…!

Without getting tired of the taunts by people, I hugged my disabled daughter and other disabled children their mothers and gave them courage.
Helped them by holding hands ..! My next wish is to built a house for accommodating and give education for children with disabilities.
There is also the need to protect parents who have been abandoned by their children.
The Almighty will hear the prayer of that mother who wants to give best love and care. I hope the help of well-wishers is available. The Mother Queen Foundation owns 45 cents of land in Adoor, Erathu Panchayath. I want to do these things there.
Praying …!
I am confident that good will come..

The Mother Queen Foundation requests the cooperation of all good friends and well-wishers to conquer the heights. … !!
With faithful lov
